2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa

Just an hour away before the opening ceremony begins, oohh how exciting. If you don't watch football you should, thrilling and gripping, that is football, it's awesome - definitely the best sport in the world. My cousin once told me there are 4 things that are universal in this world, they transcend language and culture barriers - money, sex, music and football. I have to agree with him, regardless of who you are or where you are from, any of those things you can appreciate.

Here's the FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa Official Theme Song-Wavin' Flag:

First match in about 3 hours is between South Africa and Mexico.
Second match: Uruguay vs France.

Group A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France
Group B: Argentina, Nigeria, Korea, Greece
Group C: England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia
Group D: Germany, Australia, Serbia, Ghana
Group E: Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, Cameroon
Group F: Italy, Paraguay, New Zealand, Slovakia
Group G: Brazil, Korea DPR, Cote d'Ivoire, Portugal
Group H: Spain, Switzerland, Honduras, Chile

You can check out the group matches here

Another thing to point out is the new ball being used by FIFA this World Cup - adidas Jabulani (it has it's own theme song O.o). Apparently it's the most accurate ball they have ever created - more circular than the others, and it's faster.

The goalkeepers don't like it - Brazil's goalkeeper said "it's horrible", Italy's goalkeeper said "it's a nightmare" and the USA goalkeeper said "it's horseshit".
Here's the CBS article - here
CBS video - here

This is what happens when a soccer ball goes "bankai":

A shame all the matches are in the earlier morning for me =P.

And a shame no David Beckham =(, I was looking forward to him in this World Cup.
London 2012 - 786 days to go.
FIFA World Cup 2014 Brazil - 4 years.

New Zealand actually has a 1000 to 1 odds of winning (didn't change even after they beat Serbia in friendly) =P.

Whoever made the table needs to L2roundup. They must be like 0.0006% chance or something.

Doesnt surprise me though, if they rate england that highly then they're obviously mentally challenged.

England have a few problems.

Goalkeeping: Robert Green is inconsistent and far from elite. David James is past his prime and very old, even then was never world-class in his day. Joe Hart is the best of the three talent-wise, but young and inexperienced. He deserves his callup but he won't start. I'm surprised Capello didn't pick Paul Robinson, he's solid and consistent, though still, he isn't a world-class goalkeeper either. England haven't had one since David Seaman.

Defending: What was the main strength of the team was weakened majorly when Rio Ferdinand was ruled out from injury. While Terry and Ferdinand were clearly the pairing in the middle, now there are questions as who is going to play alongside John Terry in the starting eleven. Matthew Upson, Ledley King, and Jamie Carragher are not quite as solid defenders as Ferdinand was. Between the three of them I can't pick one over the other two but I have a feeling Capello is going to go with Carragher. He's got some big boots to fill. Ashley Cole is one of the best left backs in the world. Some people have been questioning the capabilities of Glen Johnson on the right but he's been very impressive for me, especially to get picked over Gary Neville, though Neville has had a shit season and is old, so his name is a legacy but I'm not surprised to see him not on the team. Stephen Warnock is quality, but he won't start at left back as long as Ashley Cole is fit. I haven't really seen enough of this Michael Dawson guy to say anything about him.

Midfield: Looks strong on paper, but an effective midfield is not about individual quality but rather how well the players mesh with each other on the pitch. If anyone watched England play under Steve McClaren, you'd know that this is not the case with Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard pairing the midfield. At their clubs they're free to roam forwards knowing they have a holding midfielder behind them and spearhead the attack. While they are both excellent at this role, you can't put two of these type on the same pitch together and expect it to work out very well. Joe Cole is coming back from injury, so that might not work out too well. Questions on the right though. Maybe Gerrard at the wing? Who knows.

Forwards: Eh fuck it I'm bored with this post already.

North Korea made it in? Wut? I wonder how the team feels playing in a dirty capitalist tournament. They're going to get ass-raped in Group G.
