I think Naruto turned out the way he is currently because he suffered so much.

He would have been a moderate, boring run-of-the-mill upper class ninja otherwise. He would have been the loved favourite of the village because of his Father's position and nobody likes reading about a hero starting out with a golden spoon in his mouth. We like to read about strife and pain, and how our hero overcame those obstacles.

Usually those who started off suffering and really clawing their way up through life tend to have more compassion and understanding than other people with "better" upbringings - mostly because they've been there and done that. You could argue the initial suffering makes them bitter and hateful, much like Sasugay. Sasugay and Naruto represent two sides of the same coin - one looked outward and followed a good vision bestowed by Jiraiya and the other one looked inwards into a void of DARKNESSSU.

You learn through suffering, Sasuke 'has not suffered enough' to force him to really look at himself - about who and what he is really doing. And that is the sad thing about Sasuke, he has had so many opportunities to change, so many people have put their hand out reaching to help him, to save him, but just as he is now, he is blind to such kindness and love and interprets it as animosity and hostility (one of the reasons why it is not very enjoyable to read/watch Naruto when it is focusing on Sasuke).

It really is unclear how actually Naruto will turn out, but even with an upbringing where there is not much suffering, I still think what I love about Naruto, will be inherent in the Naruto where Kushina and Minato are actually alive (they'd make such great parents).

Anyway I said this two years ago (on page 17) and I still stand by it:

Also been thinking about Tobi's identity, he wears a mask for a reason...and after seeing the panel where Tobi is cut by Minato in chapter 503 (here - look at the bottom left panel) and how he bleeds (almost like slime) I still think that Tobi has had his body altered by Zetsu.

Plus we seen what happens when you insert a Mangekyo Sharingan in eyes that have already been blinded by it's effects, it leads to the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, so what about if you insert a Sharingan in eyes that used to hold healthy Mangekyo Sharingan? ....Anyway I just can't get over the Kakashi and Tobi connection and how similar their eye abilities are. Here's the theory I wrote earlier in this thread:

One of the data books do say that Izuna died in battle, but Zetsu, if alive in that time could have created a clone or body for Izuna (yeah I don't think the current body Tobi has is flesh and bone). Not sure if I can take the data book information as canon =/. Now this part of my theory is a stretch, it includes Obito (...), Zetsu aware that Izuna was blind and had no eyes, could have found Obito's corpse under the rock either with his observation skills on Konoha or upon tasting Obito's blood (Zetsu likes to feed...on humans?), could have realised he was a match for Izuna. Turns out Obito and Izuna both have the same birthday and blood type. Now it's interesting that Tobi's right eye is the only eye he reveals through his mask (Kakashi has Obito's left Sharingan eye), plus Tobi and Kakashi have similar powers, able to shift things through dimensions - if you take into account that Tobi is an Uchiha and Kakashi is not, it makes sense that Tobi's Sharingan power is stronger. Another piece of evidence that did make me intrigued was when Tobi told Kakashi, who was about to use Kamui, that it wouldn't work on him - here. Is it just because Tobi knew he was stronger than Kakashi or is there another reason? It hasn't been revealed how Kakashi awakened his Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan, if we assume he didn't implant another Sharingan eye in his eye, than it means Obito's eyes were special and it was able to reach the level of EMS without the need an implant, if Tobi has Obito's right eye, makes sense if it is at EMS level.

Could be Izuna is trying to resurrect himself back in his own body or in his brothers (Madara's). Kabuto pulling out either corpse would shock Tobi to the extent that he would agree to join forces with Kabuto.

Though with this theory there are inconsistencies - Minato had fought with Kyuubi and he stated it was controlled by Madara (here) - that page just states it's the man with the mask, but I'm sure Minato mentioned he fought Madara somewhere, or was it Tobi that mentioned it? =/. If Minato didn't specially mention Madara, then it would be fine, but if Minato did mention Madara, it is a strong inconsistency in that theory - I doubt someone of Minato's caliber would be wrong in sensing a persons chakra. Tobi would have gotten Obito's eye by that time but would it be enough to control the most powerful tailed beast? with just one eye? ...this theory is interesting but several things are a stretch.

Anyway I want more to be revealed on Zetsu and his connection with Tobi. I ALSO WANT TO SEE ZETSU FEED!!!!!!!

With Minato's uncertainty in actually believing that Tobi/the Masked Man is Madara I now believe in this theory more.

Would be interesting if the Second Hokage used Edo Tenshi to summon Madara and died while he was summoned giving Madara's freewill back to him - would explain why Tobi is immortal.

Kakashi's Sharingan was transplanted. I took it as it only needs the transplant to unlock the power in them. Danzo also had pretty strong Sharingan abilities.

I've also thought from the emergence of Tobi that he was definitely linked to Obito. I think I rumoured them to be one in the same?

New chapter is pretty meh up to page 12. Then it's a good story, the first bits seemed over dramatic in a way?

well it wraps up the story. that's all that matters. good little back story if i may say so. not sure if it fits completely with all the events that happened but whatever. why would they treat him differently? why wouldn't the families all raise him together? I guess having the 3rds eye constantly watching over you was as good as any.

Yeah, this does raise the question of why did Konoha all of a sudden hate Jinchuriki. Never seemed to be a problem until Madara released the Kyubi and showed them what their precious Biju could do...

Poor Naruto for dealing with it all, but what a champ for never pointing the finger of blame/hate.

Ah, I actually teared while reading this chapter ='(. It really is immensely sad that such parents with overflowing love weren't able to raise their son and potentially other children that they may had down the line. Naruto really is something to have turned out the way he did with all the suffering, shunning and pain he went through. I can't help but really like Sasuke after this chapter, because ultimately it was Sasuke that helped Naruto to become such a great person and shinobi (and Naruto knows it as well) even if their friendship was a rivalry in the start, it gave Naruto purpose and an aim.

Most likely the villages didn't care about the potential damage that was avoided by Minato and Kushina sacrificing themselves and Naruto (sealing the Kyuubi inside him), suffering and pain overwhelming them and turning to negativity, they eventually ended up fearing the source of the power which created the nightmares they would had been afflicted by. People want to blame someone, people like to place blame, it gives them an outlet to release their negativity (much easier to focus it on someone else than deal with it yourself). Regardless of whether the village was saved by Naruto indirectly, negativity doesn't just go away, it is only natural after witnessing the destructive power of the Kyuubi the villages would direct blame for the lost lives and fear Naruto (reason why those that don't understand that power - Hinata and the younger generation, don't fear and shun Naruto as much as the adults).
