The Gintama anime timeslot is being replaced by an anime called Gon, looks like the Gintama anime will be going on hiatus again (I assume) at the end of March (26th March?). [Source: ANN]

It is possible that Gintama could be changing timeslots but I doubt that, the anime is too close to the manga.

Anyway looks like three of JUMP's series anime will be ending at the end of March - Bleach, Gintama and Beelzebub. Beelzebub won't be adapting the fight with Akuma High School/Academy (oh Furuichi...) yet, so the remaining episodes will be filler just like the past few were.

I haven't watched the new season of Gintama yet, but am looking forward to watching it in HD when I get around to watching it.

I'm wondering if it isn't just a prank on it's viewers. It wouldn't be the first time Gintama has lied about the series ending. Since the timeslot change appears to be taking place on April 2nd, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they came out on April 1st and said "APRIL FOOLS." I just can't imagine Gintama, being the series it is, passing up April Fools. Then again though, as you said, the anime is way too close to the manga, so I also wouldn't be surprised if they are telling the truth. I highly, highly doubt it's done for good though, seeing as how they've shown before that they'd rather just cancel the show for a year or so instead of doing fillers, so they'll probably just do the same and come back under Gintama" or Gintama+. Its sales are way too good for Sunrise it even remotely consider abandoning it.

I am disappointed about Beelzebub ending, though. It was one of the shows I looked forward to watching every week. Though it has the same case as Gintama; it was way too close to the manga. As far as I know though, the anime ratings weren't bad; it was just catching up. It was only a year after the manga was published that the anime debuted, so this is not a surprise it caught up so quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if it too came back a year or so later for a sequel series.

The Gintama anime was awesome, and it is unfortunate to hear that it is to be ended.

I read Gon as a kid, it works as a manga - but I have my doubts about the title working as an animation.

Seeing as Gon never says a thing.

Saves on VA costs :D

Edit: I've recently come across some more news which makes me think even more that this might be a troll on Gintama's part; the Kintoki arc that they were supposed to animate starting episode 252 (supposedly now the final episode), apparently, the main character's shtick was going to be attempting to end the series. This is all too much of a "coincidence" for me not to think Sunrise is trolling us right now.

Currently rewatching Gintama. Can't believe its been about 10 years since I started watching the show and over 7 years since I watched a new episode of Gintama.….

I actually had to come here to remember what episode I put the series on hold at.

Watching it at Crunchyroll and will be commenting on every episode. Currently at episode 27. My username is Akairen. My journey with Gintama started on Crunchyroll so it's cool that I'm continuing it again 10 years later.

Ah the nostalgia. Episode 25, the recap episode was one of the best in season 1:
