keep watching! it only gets funnier and more epic. Best anime ever, imo. When I talk to "normal people" i tell them I like one piece, but if I know they like anime just a little, I tell them Gintama. People go nuts too when they learn you like Gintama. It's somehow managed to stay kind of "underground" even though it's the most popular comedy sounen anime in Japan. Young girls love it too for some odd reason, probably because gin-san is so fucking badass.

edit: Also, tomorrow I'm going to a Nabe/Sukiyaki party (episode 25). It should be an epic battle to decide who is nabe-shogun and owns the pot. I'll do my best to mind game my friends in order to get the most amount of meat possible.

Anyway seems like the Gintama anime resuming April next year.

Man it feels good watching Gintama, especially after a year of not watching an episode. Currently watching the episodes I haven't watched yet (126-201).

Episodes 126-128 - lol Gintama taking a story about corresponding by letters and corresponding in general, and making it so hilarious. The end was great, Gin-san running on the side of the building was badass. And lol! Follow-kata Toshi-follow!, if there were a Death Note in Gintama, Hijikata would be the Yagami Light of Gintama =D.
retsgip
Haha yeah, I liked that story. Gin-san was hilarious and of course an insane motherfucker for jumping off the building like that to save her. I love how everything in gintama is just fake enough to know it's fake, but almost real enough to believe it might actually happen. Gin-san would be one of those friends that you always have fun with, even if it means sitting on the couch eating ice cream and watching tv, or riding a scooter down the street to go buy a jump magazine. Not to mention he's the strongest samurai ever and would fight to the death for you no matter what.

Episode 129-130, oh wow, Gintama arcs start of so weird but the endings are so good. Lol Parasite X, Parasite Z, and Parasite Omega - Planet Eaters and Planet Pukers, hahah what the hell, the follow through of what happened after setting up those parasites was hilarious =P. The dog (Kintaro) and it's owner had such a weird relationship, it was cool and a moving relationship (a 'buddy' huh), but man was it WEIRD. Nice how Kagura left roses on the road/path where their 'candles' expired.

Image

Episode 131-134 - the Stand Onsen episodes were very awesome (and hilarious, Gin-san being freaked out by ghost, lol the brief trio...and that Sen guy with a shotgun who possessed Gin's body near the end =P). Gin-san and the ghost (stands?), hahah. Really liked the end of this arc, Rei saving Okami and Okami realising who the one really being helped was. I like how Gin-san guides people to a point where they are able to help themselves. With his actions and silence, he brings them to the point where they can see what they really want.

And Rei, at the end, was she seriously staying on the world, so she could wash Gintoki's back (when he does die)?:

Image

Gintoki kind of reminds me of Iroh from Avatar, through their experiences they have now found a balance and a place/life-style where they are truly content. As Iroh said to Zuko - "there is a simple happiness in poverty" (or something along those lines =P). Here Gintoki even though a badass Samurai (one of the best), he is fine with working at Odd Jobs Gin and living a simple life. Rather than money and status Gintoki has found his happiness in the people he is surrounded by. Gintoki is both immature and mature, and he really is the type of person whose presence alone can make you feel good about yourself and about life.

I don't how Gintama manages to pull off being on both ends of the spectrum (being both serious and comical) and seeming to have no flow but having one at the same time, but man does Gintama pull it off. It's weird, cool and awesome O.o.

The current opening for the episodes I am watching atm I really like, especially in the start where the camera starts of looking at Gintoki's boots and rotates upwards working it's way up to Gintoki's head, revealing those cool lazy eyes and silver perm =P.
Syphin
Gintama episode 135 - lol Gintaman...quite hilarious how the editors, the mangaka and Gin got together to discuss possible paths for Gintaman to make it more popular =P. As Shinpachi so gracefully says "Dondake!!!" But man Gintaman animated short was great, love how the ideas that came up in the discussion were carried out in that Gintaman short. "Why is this train flying in space?!" - powerful, surprising, hilarious - more shounen need twist like this =P. Hahah Paishield (Eyeshield 21), Dragon Baiwse, One Park (lol Yoda-sensei).

Episode 136 - whoa the ending is real creepy, I was quite shocked and terrified in the end O.o. Poor Hasegawa, it's tough finding a place to live when you have no money and loan sharks hate you. Lol at the real estate agent saying the apartment was used to "gut" tuna. Gintoki comparing rooms and women and the explanation he give was hilarious.

Episode 137 - the first part was hilarious. Ayame and Kondou confessing their love for Gintoki and Otae respectively - hahah that was great, I forgot how dangerous it was to eat while watching Gintama =P. Part 2 - Santa Clause, Ben and Gin was quite good, lol Santas getting down in by the police for trespassing.

Episode 138 - Psychogun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COBRA!! Lol like how they had him (Kanemaru) speak in English (most of his lines anyway, though a lot were cursing words =P). Cobra is awesome, cool how they worked in a character (or characters =P) like that in and made it hilarious. Love the end of the episode.

Episode 139 - 146: Yoshiwara is Burning arc - oh my goodness, epic. When Gintama gets serious, the awesomeness explodes. Love this arc. The twist, action and humour are top-notch. Tsukuyo, Seita and Hinowa were really great characters. And wow Kamui!!!!! gg Gintoki, even he seems small in comparison (power-wise that is).

Yeah the hero arrives at the last minute, but there is no hero like Gintoki. The kunai gag they had going with him was hilarious:

The relationship between Gintoki and Tsukuyo was entertaining, you could say they really "hit" things off. Hilarious how Tsukuyo flowed with Gintoki's excuses and went with him not being hit by the kunai's =P.

Image

Kamui vs Housen - quite a bit of budget put into this fight, but it was worth it, 'cause it was awesome.

Kagura and Shinpachi vs Abuto - when the beast came unleashed, the fight really became intense and interesting. Jiraiya's voice actor is so good, Abuto sounds like a super badass.

Gintoki and Hyakka vs Housen - legendary. "You can't blow out my flame. It's useless, no matter how hard you blow. I have a special lighter with me. I've got a lighter that can never be extinguished..." Gintoki beating Housen with his epic wooden sword was great to watch, action satisfaction.

Image

The ending was satisfying with Housen finally being able to gaze on that which what he sought after, and even in the darkness he walked, have it illuminate by the sun he desperately loved and hated. Gintoki being served a cup of sake by Hinowa under the shine of the sun ended things off really really well.

Episode 147 - Shin and Kagura want to get stronger but hahah, how random, Zura's story and those fitness instructors =P.

Episode 148-149, SAW!!! Lol like the Saw parodies, quite entertaining seeing Hijikata and Sougo put in a life and death situation. Had a feeling the mastermind behind the incident was "him", but hahah how diabolical.

Image

Love this current ending song (Shigi - Kagayaita). I listen to it when I'm reading Yankee-kun to Megane-chan (mangaka - Miki Yoshikawa, she used to be an assistant of Fairy Tail's Hiro Mashima).
retsgip
ahaha, i was listening to the apartment searching one last night trying to sleep but i kept laughing at what I was hearing. So good even without visuals. I couldn't remember what the characters/rooms looked like and my tv was off so I had to use my imagination for the whole thing and it made the whole ordeal infinitely more funny.

If you haven't noticed, Gintama episodes are almost a constant stream of dialog. Very impressive actually. I love Gin-san's voice (plays kyon in Haruhi) so I usually fall asleep to his sweet sweet nothings in my ear.
Syphin
Yeah that's the new season coming out in April 2011, how exciting =D. Gintama has so many awesome characters. And is it just me or has Gintama changed from the 4:3 resolution and to the 16:9 resolution for the new season? (well that's what resolution the trailer seemed to be in O.o).

Gintama has so much dialog, I love those time wasting scenes - where Gintoki, Kagura and Shinpachi are creating dicussion over the still image of the building they stay in =P. They are so frank and how they complain about Sunrise going overbudget is quite hilarious. If other anime try to do this they would probably just fall flat on their face =P.

And yeah Gintoki's voice is super great, but lol 'm sure if you were a character in Gintama, you'd be like Ayame (are you a masochist like her? =P).
retsgip
Very nice. Need my Gintama fix asap.

And yes, I hate Natto but I am kind of masochistic. Have you seen the ep about the foreigners--what was is it, Johnny?--I think he was a bodybuilder or something. That's prob more like me.
Syphin
Restgip wants to be the fitness instructor!!! (lol Gintoki)

Anyway the Yoshiwara is Burning arc is great. I'm shivering at how badass Gin's wooden sword is (and Gin ofcourse, but you have to admit, that wooden sword is epic =P):

retsgip
I'm sure you've seen the episode where he gets a new sword from a Hot spring tv order made from some sort of crazy love tree and it's super expensive.

Gintama episode 150 - lol Gintama loves to joke about the series ending =P. Was wondering what episode the epic Evangelion parody was from =P. Shinpachi's version of the ending, how disturbing O.o.

Episode 151-152 - hahah what the...barber shop mayhem. Kondou (poor guy being rejected from beauty salon), Zura and Shogun... The Naruto references and Kagura shaving off the Shogun's "mage" was hilarious. But Gintoki, using "that bush" of Kondou's as a substitute "mage", and Zura's hair as a substitute for Kondou's "missing bush". Things worked out in the end (somehow) but Gintoki and Co sure caused a lot of trouble =P.

Episode 153 - Kagura being unable to sleep and lol preventing Gintoki to sleep O.o. But man I almost died of laughter after listening to that radio story (stories that make you cry within three minutes). The little girl and Jerry story, wow that end freaked me out - I thought the cliche line of "his in your heart" would be used, but hell no, not even close...not even remotely close. Gintoki's reaction, his scream, and his kick, hahahahah priceless. That was frickin' hilarious, especially Gintoki's scream, man that scream was legendary and the laughter that ensured was painful yet relieving and satisfying. The effect on Gintoki after that ahafdsfsfsfs,...sorry but I was just watching that bit again and now I can't stop laughing...Gintoki's voice actor is amazing.

Great episode.

Episode 154 - Kyuubei's birthday. Lol was nice seeing how crude the characters Gintama are (Kyuubei's friends) compared to the business people (those smug conceited fools). Nice speech by Tojo at the end and nice ending.

The mini-Kintama episodes at the beginning of the episodes 151-154 are quite amusing - lol Kintoki and Shinpachi Buttchin.

Episode 155 - Gintoki and Hasegawa go gambling on horse-racing. Hasegawa trying to get himself out of the ditch of unemployment and uselessness so he can show his wife his "successful" side =(. I almost forgot that Gintoki and Co are reason Hasegawa ended up unemployed in the first place (and in a way causing part of his "despair") =P. Hahaha but the gambling, hilarious how Gintoki pointed that Hasegawa spending 7 hours the night before narrowing the choices of the horses was pathetic, especially when Gintoki relied on beginner's luck and took seconds to make his choice =P. Gintoki betting against Hasegawa, and the 2 horse battle at the end, hahah. What a twist in the end, lol poor Gintoki, but even more so, poor Hasegawa, destiny and fate have turned their back on him =P.

Episode 156 - that Elizabeth and Katsura short at the start was awesome, felt Charle Chaplin like. Lol confusing Shampoo and Conditioner, what a pain, understandably Katsura was angry =P. But wow, I wouldn't have guessed this was possible, but using only basically one scene setting to create a whole episode, how legendary. The whole conversation the characters have with that shop owner who listens to their complaints was great. Voice acting was top notch, creating such imagery in my mind without even images but only voices speaks a lot to the caliber of voice actors/actresses Gintama has. Gin, Hijikata, Kondou, Otoe =P. The shop-owner pieces together the bits of information he got from the complaints of the character was quite something, practically weaving a story right there.

This episode was epic, practically for most of the episode there was only one scene used. If anyone knows any other anime that can pull this off, please let me know. The twist that came at the end, hahah what a shock!! what man was it fitting...=P.

Episode 157-163 - The Tsu Terakado fanclub arc, lol...Naruto has his meditation and inner training against the Kyuubi. Ichigo has his inner world training against his Hollow-self. Hijikata has his pride and honour stripped to satisfy the otaku within and once and for all cease the endless fear of the "Toshi" being release. Practically Hijikata vs Shinpachi, but lol Gintoki and Kagura got dragged along. Taka-tin was awesome, good use of a foreigner =P. The set-up, the pre-lim race, and the challenges were all hilarious.

Shinpachi's identity being his glasses, hahaha this never gets old, how can they mistake Shinpachi for his glasses? It so hilarious how Shinpachi is made to feel non-existent without his glasses =P. The charisma battle was cool, Gintoki obviously won in narrating =P. The card dueling battle, lol the combos with those cards even make Yu-Gi-Oh quiver in fear =P. The climax was definitely a climax, Toshi vs Patsuan - creating their existence through their actions. Nice end with the fanclub membership card for Toshi.

I really like this scene (and the other scenes):

I vaguely remember something like that (man do I need to watch like episode 1-90 again O.o).

Anyway I found another Yoshiwara arc AMV I like:
