I would normally have created this thread a month ago, but I decided to wait for the version 2 of this chart to be released - the one that contains the OVA and Movie list (though this one doesn't contain the movie list =P), so yeah consequently I ended up creating it now =(. Some of the Autumn/Fall season shows have aired or have had a pre-air episode air, most of the shows will begin airing in ~2 weeks.
Anime series I will most likely end up watching:
>>Ironman - yeah yeah Tony Stark is here! It's going to be 12 episodes, so I wonder how Madhouse is going to do this. But either way if its an action series or something much deeper, I'll be checking this out. Trailer:
>>Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt:
Well if that name doesn't get your attention, than Gainax will. The director of Gurren Lagann and Dead Leaves, Hiroyuki Imaishi is back and this time he is directing Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. The animation style does look like Dead Leaves and I love Dead Leaves and even though I may not have thought as much of Gurren Lagann as some people, that was also a very enjoyable show.
Gurren Lagann staff doing the character designs and concept art. This animation style is more akin to Dead Leaves and Invader Zim(?). Is that a Gir [reject?] I see? how awesome. Animation not as quality as the Dead Leaves OVA - as Production IG animated that and it was only an OVA unlike this which is a series.
I would be lying if I said the storyline didn't interest me, but it does seem like some reverse (kind of) Evangelion. Going to be fun to see how such characters with...well interesting names are dealt with by Gainax, I suppose if anyone, Gainax could make such an unusual concept work.
Here's the trailer, a surprisingly fun trailer:
And for those who have not heard of Dead Leaves, well here's the trailer, it's badass, a real kickass anime:
Anyway incase anyone wondering, Gainax has another more serious project in the works.
>>Arakawa Under the Bridge x Bridge:
First season was downright hilariously awesome and the cast of voice actors they had for it, just wow...Defintely watching this, though am wondering if SHAFT can deliver in this sequel as they did in season one.
Preview (what a funny preview, lol at Hoshi =P):
>>Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girls:
The pre-air of episode 1 aired early September. Animation is great, interesting how ink smudging is used for censoring - studios nowadays becoming quite creative. The plot, well you could tell that wasn't the concern of the intro-episode. Plot seems straight forward judging by the little that was revealed in episode 1, but potentially something deeper can arise (not going to hold my breath). Action was great in the episode and of course the fan service was also highlighted.
>>Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto (Radiant Takuto)
Oh an original anime series by BONES. If anything, studio BONES sure knows how to create good adventure series. I'll be checking this out.
>>Psychic Detective Yakumo:
Apart from the synopsis I have no other idea about this, but it sounds good, so I will watch at the very least the first few episodes. If I like it and if I have time I may continue it.
>>The World God Only Knows:
I've read a bit of the manga last year, it was good and at times really good - some of the main characters "capturing" was amusing. Haven't picked the manga up since I put it on hold after having to wait for new chapters. Wasn't really going to watch this series but that was until I found out that studio Manglobe is producing the series O.o. I am quite surprised they chose a series of this genre, will be interesting to see what they do with it. I was thoroughly impressed by Manglobe's work on Saraiya Goyou (House of Five Leaves) in the Spring season so looking forward to this.
>>Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru: SHAFT hasn't disappointed me yet, so will be watching this. I'm sure lots of hilarity will ensure =D.
Well the new anime for the noitaminA time slot, this series is produced by Brains Base (studio that produced Baccano!, Durarara!!, Spice and Wolf II). This is a josei/shoujo genre, and other than the manga winning the Kodansha shoujo manga award this year, I have no idea what to expect from this show. But just because I have been impressed by the noitaminA timeslot shows (all of them I've watched this year and last year), I will be watching this - plot does sound somewhat amusing (A trap?).
Other series of notable interest:
Pokemon: Best Wishes:
Well a whole new Pokemon series with a whole new cast of side characters for Ash to travel with and new Pokemon to catch and battle <insert gotta catch 'em all Pokemon song> - oh wow, good times, great song, Pokemon is awesome. And Ash still 10 in this series?
>>Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector:
Wow that preview and it's patriotic music in the start got me good - may just watch this. Mecha, action and a manly protagonist? sounding good so far.
>>Bakuman: apparently this was made for the anime/manga fan. I may watch a few episodes to see what exactly this is about. Bakuman created by the mangaka of Death Note.
>>Toaru Majutsu no Index 2 (A Certain Magical Index 2):
I watched season one but wasn't really amazed by it, it has a good setting and interesting story (the light novels probably better than the anime), but I can't say the main characters in Index caught my interest. Still wondering whether I should watch season 2 or not, seems like this season the meat of the story is being covered.
Tachi Yumaru Gekijou:
Oh wow that description had me fooled and in shock, lol I sure got trolled.
You Are Delicious:
How could you not like a title like this? well that's all I have to say about that.
>>Yozakura Quartet ~Hoshi no Umi~
There was an anime series of this in the 2008 Autumn year - watched about 4 episodes of that. This OVA is going to be manga faithful, original cast return but different production studio.
The four main characters are teenage heroes who protect the city of Sakurashin from threats. Among them is Hime who has super strength, Ao who can read minds, Kotoha who is a conjurer and Akina who is a normal, powerless boy.
>>To Aru Kagaku no Railgun:
I've heard this series was better handled than the season one of Index. Not sure if the story is continued in the OVA or if its just random fun side story stuff.
>>Air Gear: Kuro no Hane to Nemuri no Mori Break on the Sky:
Oh yes definitely and more please!
...the story will take place in a future version of Nara city where a young man on a school trip has his bag stolen by a white deer. This leads him to a meeting with Toto, a mysterious girl who is attempting to flee a gang.
Sunrise's new project? interesting.
a supernatural, psychological thriller based on the story of Amano Yukiteru, a second year middle school student who is introverted and spends most of his time detailing his life in a cell phone diary. Due to his loneliness, Amano begins to imagine an other-worldly friend named Deus Ex Machina who claims to be the Lord of Time and Space. Deus gifts Amano with the ability to record the happenings of the near future as if he was reading the diary of his future self on his cell phone. Amano gets caught up in a sinister game of survival where twelve contestants will compete to become the next Deux ex Machina. Each diary has special attributes depending on its owners personality and lifestyle which leads different strengths and weaknesses. Each diary is also directly connected to its holder and its destruction would lead to the end of the owners life.
I love the manga and will definitely be watching this. The manga is intense. I learned about the "Yandere" type of personality thanks to the manga - who wouldn't want a girl who'd kill just to be with you?
The main character is Hiro, a young man who believes hes sacrificing himself for the life of a young woman with a gothic dress sense. She soon reveals herself as Hime, a member of the Monster Realms royal family and resurrects him in exchange for promised servitude. Hime is looking for powerful servants and warriors as she explains that shes in the middle of a war between her siblings to determine who will win the throne. The animes story follows their adventures along with a large supporting cast of Himes servants and episodic enemies.
There was a anime series to this, I only watched 3 episodes =(. So far there is only one OVA in the works, will be nice if more ends up being produced in the future.
>>Bungaku Shoujo Memoire II -Sora-Mau Tenshi no Requiem-:
A Production IG work, so will follow this series. These OVAs focus on the three main characters, the previous OVA acted as a prequel to the movie that aired in theaters in May - I hear as a drama it was really good.
>>Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin Specials:
Six special episodes to be released, one in each volume of DVD I think. More of Maya isn't bad.
Yeah yeah! This should be real good =).
>>Tales of Symphonia: Tethe'alla-hen:
Watched the first part Tales of Symphonia (4 episodes) and the 2 episodes that are out for this part (the second part) - Tethe-alla-hen. Looking forward to episode 3. OVAs produced by Ufotable - I was absolutely amazed by their work on the Kara no Kyoukai movies =).
>>Armored Trooper Votoms: Gen-ei:
One of those old school anime, have watched the first two episodes and they were good, but from the preview of episode 3 seems the main character will be covered - and really he sounds/made out to be (from intro) like the man. Should watch episode 3 and 4 O.o.
Should start to watch this from where I left it, been on hold for a while.
>>Mardock Scramble 1: The First Compression:
A female prostitute who is murdered and brought back to become a living weapon. Her primary goal of course, is to find out the reason she was killed and seek revenge against those responsible.
I so want to watch this. Has a Cowboy Bebop/Ghost in the Shell feel to it. Anime adapted from a novel by Tow Ubukata, his previous work adapted to an anime - Le Chevalier D'Eon, I very much enjoyed.
>>Bleach Jigoku-hen:
Will Aizen be dead by then?
>>Mobile Suit Gundam 00 the Movie: Awakening of the Trailblazer:
Red Line is about the biggest racing game of the universe and it's only held once every 5 years. And naturally everyone wants to take part. Follow the racings skills of men and women alike.
This is the 2010 Anime movie I WANT TO WATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Immensely looking forward to watching this. I'm so jealous that this movie is shown in the Australian anime film festival line-up (Reelanime), if NZ had one and if it were shown there I would so have gone to see it - I seen Summer Wars this year on the big screen during the International film festival in Wellington in July.
Ever since I heard about this and seen one of the trailers for it last year, I've been so looking forward to this. I would even go so far and place this above Evangelion 2.22 (which I very much enjoyed) and put it Number 1 for anime movies of 2010 (Even though Evangelion aired in theaters in 2009) from just the trailers I've seen. The animation of Redline is so deliciously invigorating. How fresh and exhilarating. Studio Madhouse has just skyrocketed passed Satelight, Gainax and Manglobe to become along with Production IG my favourite animation studios with their recent works. Oh now I'm looking forward to Ironman even more (which Madhouse also focusing on this season).
I SO WANT TO WATCH THIS!!! RAWRRAWRAWWWRRWARARRRR!!!!!
Have a nice day,
