I had a small Blood Angels attachment, with one tank and assault bike. There is a lot of frustration and time consumption to put it bluntly. You'll need to be patient (very patient) and be ready to make a whole lot of mistakes when you first attempt painting.
The initial investment can also be quite heavy, so keep that in mind. Unless you are dead serious about blowing hours waiting for base coats to dry, then more hours doing base colours, washes and then highlight details - don't bother.
You will also get creamed something nasty as a newbie trying to enter the game, so don't just prepare to lose your mind during the early stages of developing your painting skills - but also learning a very technical game.
If you think you can overcome these factors and then getting schooled this side to Moscow by 12 years olds or neckbeards at this game until you learn the ropes, then by all means start it.
