okay so... i bought a computer around 2 years ago and it came with xp long story short vista was installed on it and i wish it wasnt

when i bought the computer it came with one disc drive that stopped working.

now i have 2 disc drive (one is a dvd rom drive the other a cd/rw)
(both work fine)

my boot sequence is in order set to ""Onboard or USB CD-ROM drive"" first which i assume is what it needs to be to boot my my xp cd.

but when i turn on my comp i go to boot setup page try to boot from cd but it come sup with an error message saying it doesnt work.
""Selected boot device not available Strike f1 to retry boot, f2 for setup utility ""
(on boot menu do i click Boot to utility parition or.…?)

Additional info:

Boot sequence looks like this:
Onboard usb or cd rom drive
sata hard drive
ide hard drive
floppy

Drives look like this
Diskette : offf ( dont have a floppy)
Drive 0 Sata 0 : on (controlled by system bios)
Drive 1 Sata 2 : offf
Drive 2 Pata 0 : on (ID: dvd-rom dvd 16x65)
Drive 3 Pata 1 : on (ID atapi cd-rw cw4801)
Sata Operations : normal

Dont know if that info helps but yeah.

(yes i am stupid for letting someone to install vista on my comp)

I've asked around with no real answer
Hope you guys can help me

I didn't realise there were so many Vista fanboys on these forums. I also thought this was a technical forum where people were helped with their computer problems/questions, and not just trolled.

Xior, what motherboard do you have?

Vista is a bit flawed, but it's pretty sweet. My laptop has a mediocre processor and only 512 of ram...it can run wow, but is a bit slow at times...but hey, more ram soon will fix that.

Can't imagine why people would react to such an unexplained negative statement.
