Ok guys, I'm suffering choppy FPS in RvR A LOT now..

Q6600, 4gig ram, 8800GTS, ample room on hdd.
Clean install of Vista Ultimate 64 bit.
Have tried default settings.
Have tried forcing gfx card settings (as mentioned in the other thread) to low and using 'balanced' in game settings.
No nortons / scans / updates / video encoding / rendering running in the background

All has the same result. 30-40fps out of RvR but then CHOPPY CHOPPY CHOPPY in RvR where it's almost unplayable.

My computer could basically eat the game and fornicate with its unborn fetuses yet it's having trouble with stupid rvr shit.

Surely they should have fixed this by now? Any ideas???

Try this

Go into your Nvidia Control Panel > Change to advanced Settings and goto "Manage 3d settings".

You should see 2 tabs "Global Settings" and "Program Settings"

Select Program Settings > Add > Browse to WAR.exe and select open.

You should now see Warhammer Online in your list of Programs. If its selected click Apply.

Start up WAR and let me know how it goes. (this is the first step)

Also - what version of DirectX are you running? Do you have an additional soundcard or is it an onboard version? What motherboard do you have?

What resolution are you playing at?

Sounds like I have a similar system to you, 'cept vista.

I used to have choppy all the time, until I forced the card to run on high via the card settings program. So...try and run the game on "Highish" settings rather then low and balanced.

Sounds strange...theres a thread somewhere explaining but I'm too lazy to link it.

I think there is a memory leak that just kills your video card memory after extended play sessions. I'm running an E8400, 4GB RAM and a new Radeon 4870 512MB on WinXP (Vista is steaming pile of turd imo) and for the most part the game runs perfectly. After about 4 hours of continuous play, my FPS will slow to a crawl, sometimes it's in RvR, sometimes it's just questing. If I keep playing I will CTD within 20 minutes of the frame rate dropping. I can log back in and bang everything is silky smooth again, even if there are heaps of players on the screen. Since the latest patch I pretty much CTD everytime I go up the stairs of a keep (even if its empty). This used to happen to some keeps in DAoC to, you would just hit some invisible flag and the game would CTD. Seems to happen a shitload more often in WAR though :(

There are 2 other PCs in the house (Drid's spare PC and my housemate Jaradeem's PC) Both of those are C2D systems with Nvidia cards (8800GT and 8800GTS320) and both of those sometimes suffer stuttering after extended play sessions. Seems to be a classic sign of a memory leak to me. Every other game I play on the system works flawlessly. Even Crysis (which is way more intensive than WAR) runs perfectly fine.

I get this aswell
i was told that my 8600gt is shit now
but it ran eq2 + wow without the chopyness n fps gayness and its not like war has amazing graphics
Have played around with Nvidia control panel with 0 results

So im playing war on high performance and now im finding it almost unplayable especially in scenarios or instances.
soloing is average but it has its chopy moments

I need a freakin cure man
So if you see me being shit its probably because im staring at what looks like a screenshot.

Also ive updated to directx 10 but when i run dxdiag it says its 9.0c still have i done something wrong

If i hit the installer again it says i have the equivalent version.

is that normal?

Mobo is a GA P35-DS3R from Memory, have onboard sound and an additional sound card (though I can't find drivers for that which is annoying).

I'll try forcing high settings and running high settings in game too.

Also someone in game mentioned trying to install the dx9.0c redistributables as it helped them but I've yet to do this.

It's not only after extended play sessions. I've opened the game, logged in, got in scenario queue to have it pop 30 sec later, load then LAGGGGGGGG me to all hell.

Ok I can't install any more DirectX as it says I already have everything.

Have tried forcing the hardcore settings and max, everything looks better but the CHOPPY CHOPPY STILL REMAINS!!

This is extremely annoying..

Didn't they mention this in the State of the Game? Looks like you might have to hold out for a fix.

Or gtfo of vista.
