Yesterday evening, I found out that fallout shelter had been released for android. As soon as I found out, I immediately downloaded a android emulator for my laptop and the game app. (bluestack is the emu) Opening the game, I had a few false starts with vaults while I learnt the basics, vault 666 (version one) was brought to a swift end through poor room planning and insufficient armaments for the dwellers to defend against the constant rad roach infestations and fire's plaguing the vault. (most rooms can be expanded to cover three tiles as long as each tile is at the same upgrade level, it is best to do this at level 1 for bottle cap efficiency. My false start was vault 666 (version 2), this vault was done in by poor breeding, I just let my dwellers breed willy nilly, with not a care for stats, not taking advantage of any of the special dwellers I had, the vault once again true to it's number-sake burnt to the ground in a fiery orgy of reckless breeding and useless children.

Lastly my current vault, (Vault 777) this vault started with your basic strength dweller(Harry Stewart), a perception dweller (Gabriel Armstrong {going to breed his family quickly with the strength family to preserve the Armstrong line for generations.}) and an agility dweller (Jack Brooks), I obtained Amata pretty swiftly as well. From the go I have implemented a selective breeding program, with Amata breeding with my agility dweller and my other dwellers have breed with the other females (minimum stats for one breeding partner is a 5 in any stat, i try to match them with a 3 in the same stat to improve the chances of offspring having the desired trait. Those born without the desired traits will be sent into the wasteland without protection, to die. I also obtained another special dweller Joseph Powell, Joseph was quickly armed with some luck enhancing armour and a laser rifle and sent into the wasteland to obtain special items and bottle caps for the vault as all potential breeding partners were already pregnant with other peoples children. Once they begin to give birth Joseph will be recalled for the wasteland to breed with that generation as he has a desirable endurance stat, which is handy for surviving raider attacks and other special occurrences. No Fires to date???

Once I have the desired stats in my vault I will start breeding for looks, I wish to obtain a even ethnically diverse vault, which means I will likely end up with a whole bunch of coffee coloured Aryans.

More to come.

TL;DR, I have Three breeding males with one desirable breeding female, and a great defender of the vault on an exploration mission. Long live the black Aryan race.

Good stuff! It seems Operation Brownening is coming along nicely.

I downloaded this but never actually played it. Will have to give it another chance.

Emulating it is a good call. This game requires you to have it open to gain the best results and if I could just open it on my computer then that'd be great. Can't have phone open all day and come back to it every 2 mins.

Yeah, the progress is slow if you don't play, but I like that about it in some ways. The downside is I forget to recall my wanderers and they cost a lot to revive.

-Update-

My first generation of dweller didn't live up to their expectations, they just seemed to be slightly retarded versions of their parents with even the offspring of two people over half the possilbe limit to a certain attribute being only a 1/3 of the possible attribute. This had lead me to only breed together those closer to the end of the spectrum, Amata my brood mother with Joseph Powell the absent father of vault 777. Their offspring has been only slightly better than the others. This has lead me to install multiple training rooms where their offspring live out their teenage years until they can be of use to society. This has thankfully put a stop to all the bald children running around, I am now attempting to breed my dwellers for looks as the training institutions enable me to augment and offspring base stats. So it's good to know eugenics is only skin deep.

In other news Joseph Powell knock up Amata was sent back out into the wasteland, died was resurrected by use of my remaining caps but he was in possision of three times that amount so once he returned drove the economy and building of above mentioned training rooms, once again had some alone time with Amata and his side lady (Catherine {one of the only dwellers I own with a third of a brain.}) As breeder of Vault 777 I am starting to loose track of whose offspring is whose, this may lead to inbreeding and some kind of deliverance situation... hopefully they don't get too hungry, I am training Jack and his Son Henry to feed the vault. I haven't been able to enact the Armstrong line yet, but I will, Nina demands it.

So you're telling me that Joe fucked some bitches, died, resurrected AND funded your infrastructure?

Everyone in Vault 777 should be lining up to get it on with radioactive Jesus.

Radioactive Jesus is currently on his way back to his honeys.

Remedial
Started playing this game on Thursday

Had 80 people and deatclaws by friday, uninstalled the game on saturday when I realised how much time I spent on it.

Good fun though, would play more if it didn't require so much monitoring

I've been playing this for ages, but recently restarted as there are no cloud saves and I got a new ipad, but in my original game, I had quite a lot of people and no deathclaws. Maybe I still had under 80? All my dudes and dudettes were just constantly training and two people gathering guns for everyone once a week with training in between.

Yeah it's time intensive to keep your pop above 10% happiness.

Think I'm going to uninstall. Had a pop of 50ish and I rushed one of my rooms, failing and unleashing a molerat infestation that typically is handled okay but this one started a doom spiral that wiped out half my vault.

My happiness was between 88-97%, all it takes is placing the right people in the right jerbs and then training them up in all aspects slowly over time. If there wasn't a glitch one day, the happiness would have stayed above 90%, haha.

Yeah the happiness was easy enough, I just played too much too quickly so didn't have the time to get all the weapons for all the people or to level up their stats in the training rooms before I got dudes that came through making everything hard.

Seems like a good game to play briefly once or twice a day, but couldn't keep it limited to that
