In roughly 7.5 days we will learn the name of the next expansion and likely the major story arc.

Will we see Guldan?
Will it be the much rumored Azshara and Maelstrom expac with underwater zones?
Will it be fully integrated with Facebook and be browser based?

I can't wait.

Join us Thursday, August 6 at 9 a.m. PDT for a special World of Warcraft event streamed live from gamescom 2015 in Cologne, Germany—where we’ll be unveiling the next chapter of the World of Warcraft saga. . . .

Tune in again Sunday, August 9 at 8:00 a.m. PDT for a World of Warcraft developer chat before the show ends, and find out more about what’s in store.

Stay tuned to our dedicated gamescom page for further details on the live stream. Those who are able to join us in person at gamescom can visit us at the Blizzard booth in hall 7.1. We hope to see you there!

I don't think the next expansion will be 'The eye of Azshara' as the trademark which they made nearly a year ago would suggest.

Gul'dan!
*He yells in pain*
You made a pack!
Archimond then banishes Gul'dan back through the portal (to the twisting nether).
Some talk happens then Khadgar walks over to Gul'dan's staff and it disintergrates.

See in our wow universe there was someone else who was banished into the twisting nether for failing the burning legion.

http://wowwiki.wikia.com/Kil%27jaeden
Kil'jaeden tricked the elder shaman, Ner'zhul, into thinking that the draenei were plotting against the orcs, and subtly introduced warlock magic and bloodlust to the clans.

http://wowwiki.wikia.com/Lich_king
When Ner'zhul attempted to escape Draenor, he was immediately apprehended by the demon lord Kil'jaeden, who enacted the blood pact that Ner'zhul had sworn many years earlier. Kil'jaeden ravaged and destroyed his body, but kept his spirit alive and encased it in a block of ice from the Twisting Nether. Kil'jaeden granted him increased power, including that over death itself. Ner'zhul ceased to exist, and the Lich King was created.

Ner'zhul was defeated outright in the WoD alternate universe so the Lich King could never be created.

With out a Lich King we shouldn't forget this:
With out its master's command, the wrestles scourge will become an even greater threat to this world. Control must be maintained, there must always be a Lich King.

So here is my prediction: maybe Gul'dan to be the Lich King in the alternate universe?

http://wowwiki.wikia.com/Icecrown
The name of Icecrown became infamous when Kil'jaeden hurled the Lich King back into the mortal world. Ner'zhul's prison slammed into the glacier and created the Frozen Throne.

So the location of the next expansion pack could be an alternate version of Northrend. I know that one of Blizzards biggest regrets was not to have an underground Ahn'kahet zone and this would be an opportunity to provide it. Also, it would be interesting to see if Bolvar Lich King interacts with things somehow and maybe even unifies the 2 universes.

Further on beyond that expansion pack Northrend has many links to the old gods. The under the sea expansion pack featuring Azshara would link well from a new Northrend expansion.

Everyone knew that blizzard would have to revisit the burning legion again. I initially thought this was a late April fools joke but it looks pretty legit to me.

Thoughts?

Class halls, artifact weapons, demon hunter spec, better pvp....seems like they're listening.

Not enough dungeons, no word on a dungeon progression path or more casual progression to replace the garrisons debacle.

What's the "garrisons debacle"?

Demon Hunters sound cool, as do the Artifact weapons.

Also it seems this little tacker has grown up: https://db.tt/vE8nux7F

I still resent the fact that he was invincible in Vanilla WoW after we'd gone to all the effort of raiding Stormwind.

Some people were not happy that people could log in, do some garrison missions, log out, with out even seeing another player. I must admit for a few months that was pretty much all I was doing too. 6.2 fixed that with Tanaan Jungle which is a good daily questing area.

Anyway, here is the new stuff.

Ah, yeah that makes sense. That's what I assumed it would have been too. The whole idea of garrisons when it was announced sounded cool until you realised it meant the game was now single player.

Exactly what I thought to begin with but after playing WoWApp for PC for a few weeks it just killed my fun for the game and I haven't been back since.

I'll no doubt re-sub for the coming expansions, FINALLY the demon hunter class is introduced and I'm pretty keen to play it. According to the website it can double jump, fly and roll in/out of combat which will be interesting (Especially in PvP). I believe that Metamorphosis may be a bit underwhelming after playing a Warlock who can nearly do the exact same thing. ..
Spoon
When I read about the double jump / fly / roll stuff I was actually more interested in the implications this had on exploration.

Or maybe I'm thinking with a way older mindset and exploration is all pointless now since everywhere is accessible via flying mounts anyway.

WoD is still not accessible with flying mounts though it will be in a upcoming patch and after people have completed an achievement. They were originally not going to let people use flying mounts in Draenor but they have changed there mind after a lot of people complained.

I personally prefer being able to fly because its a 3D game and zones like Deepholm really show what can be done with it. It does take away some of the platforming aspects of the game. Exploring zones to find hidden treasure is one of the things to do in Draenor. With out being able to just fly up a tree to get the treasure, players have to figure out how to get it, maybe find a hidden path up the hill next to the tree, or find a glider at the top of a near by mountain and accurately fly into the tree. Rewards can be weapons and armor, garrison resources, pets and toys. Demon Hunters would have an advantage doing this with their double jump. This is an fun thing to do but its only a very small aspect of the game and there are items such as Avianas Feather which can allow players a small amount of flight to go where they want to go anyway.

http://www.wowhead.com/item=119093/avianas-feather

A double jump wouldn't have a big influence on the game under its current format because the aspects of the game which it will influence are so minor it wont matter. I'd welcome new scenario zones like palace of Lei Shen to take advantage of the potential for platforming in warcraft which they could disable players being able to double jump.

I understand why you would think it would have a disadvantage on exploration from a vanilla perspective. Before the cataclysm when Aseroth didn't allow flying I remember finding a way up to the area above Ungoro crater that is now Uldum, it was just flat and undeveloped. A double jump would access more blank areas like this but these places no longer exist as everywhere is now developed with an interest to allow flying.
Wastey
Will they have flying? Blizz seems to hate it. I would say there will definitely be ways to utilize double jump, like opening shortcuts in dungeons or secret rooms etc etc
