Cool beans, I haven't played any of the previous Fallout games (OH BLASPHEMY!) but have heard they're quite individual so am looking forward to this one.

I thought that you were going to play as the dog until it met a human at the end. Maybe we still are, that'd be nice and different.

An intelligent dog companion like in Road Warrior would be pretty amazing. Dog bro companions are the best.

Wrong, super mutant companions are the best. High damage threshold makes them a bit of a tank.

Yeah I've never played any of these games either, so the hype is a bit lost on me.

Is it exclusively single player? If so, I'll likely continue to not play them

It`s a single player game like the Elder Scrolls games yet set in a post apocalyptic world. Has some neat things. Notably a time stop aiming thing that requires actions points to utilize. You can pause the game and snipe out different parts of an enemy with the VATS aiming system.

Not bad but a lengthy singleplayer game with great immersion most of the time.

Sheeeit this bad boy is out!

Who's got it?

What's your bloke/chick look like?

What stats did you go? Perks?

How are you finding the lockpicking?

How fucking sweet was getting the power suit.. at first I shot at people from up the top.. then thought fuck it and jumped down.

Felt like such a boss, then Deathclaw comes along WHAT THE FUCK!

Never played any Fallout games prior, so this is all very new and exciting.

Many new features to wrap my head around like perks, base building, and the dog and stuff, but loving it so far.

That was a pretty awesome part of the game and when the Deathclaw came out I thought wtf as well, as they're a pretty high level enemy. If you see one without heavy armour, run...

The base building is new and the SPECIAL/perk system seems to have been updated and seems like it will work out really well, looking forward to seeing what's on offer!

I went Agility and Intelligence heavy as I rarely enjoy the tank spec in Bethesda games. Melee combat generally is clunky.

The game is gorgeous on my 2 year old PC and whilst initially I found the UI clunky, I'm comfortable with it now. Game has me aching to start up again. Good times!

Got it the other day.

Turned it on to wait for it to install while Aedan was asleep. Just got to 111 Vault and Aedan woke up.

I've left my characters as default looks.

Went with
S 5
P 6
E 4
C 3
I 5
A 3
L 2

From memory.. All I know is Perception and intellect need to be greater than 4 to hack and pick advanced.

The system has had a pretty interesting overhaul, where the perk system is more relied upon, but still needs the SPECIAL stats to get better perks. Charisma has more to play, which I skimped on a bit, too.

Welcome aboard Bain :D

I'm plodding along with this, only get the odd half hour here and there to play but it's great fun.

Just make sure you read the tool tips, and if you miss something you can hit Options then Help and there's a huge list of things you can read up on.

Recommended perks that make life easier: Scrounger so you don't run out of ammo, and Salvager or whatever it's called so you get more out of scrapping bits that comes in very handy if you want to focus on base building, or weapon/armour mods.
