Star Wars Battlefront will have offline singleplayer, won't use Battlelog

I thought Battle Log was pretty great after they worked out all the kinks, lets hope the new one built 'from scratch' doesn't have any issues on release.. (yeah right)

Good news for the Battlefront fans, single player has apparently been a big part of the previous games. I love me some SP too.

Some more info from First Details on Star Wars Battlefront:

The focus, DICE said, is on online multiplayer with up to 40-player battles, but the developer is creating offline challenges inspired by moments from the films that can be played solo, or cooperatively either online or split-screen.
The game won't have a traditional campaign, DICE says, of the kind we've seen in the studio's recent Battlefield games.
One new mechanic in Battlefront is what DICE is calling the "Partner" system. Players will pick a friend and form a tag team, Fegraeus explained, and in multiplayer, you'll "always play together, spawn on each other, see each other." Partners will also be able to share their unlocks, meaning that if you're a player who's unlocked a bunch of weapons or skills in Battlefront through the game's progression, your partner will also be able to use those unlocks, even if they've just started playing.
Partner system sounds damn sweet!

Also, Star Wars Battlefront will have playable women Stormtroopers

Are they pushing hard to avoid a #starwarsgate or just sell more toys by appealing to female kiddies too?

Seems a bit silly to add female storm troopers, seeing as they're all male clones...

But the partner system does sound awesome.

Actually, the last regiment of Jango Fett's clones formed the 501st legion under Darth Vader during the events of the original trilogy.

The clones were mostly phased out after the end of the Clone Wars. The empire than began to recruit non-clones into the imperial ranks, including ship officers and stormtroopers - that's why there are stormtroopers of non-uniform height and size by the time of the rebel-empire war.

I laughed more than I should have at this =)

But, yeah. I don't really know about the extended universe, so that was pretty cool to find out.

Are the non-clones better at shooting targets?

I also read some where that as a reward for political service Sidious would also use people as a template for some new clone troopers. But alot of that stuff has been scrapped and labeled "legends". Although disappointing it does leave alot of space for change for the new movies.

So let's take a step back for a second and look at the bigger picture. They've removed:

  • Space Battles
  • All prequel content
  • A lot of the maps
  • Instant action
  • Drivable AT-ATs
  • Galactic conquest

Not included in that list is actually the fact they have also capped the number of players at 40, whereas Battlefront 2 had a 64 player cap for the PC version.

What the fuck are you doing, DICE/EA. I don't need this game to come out before Episode VII, take your time you goons.

Running a series into the ground so they can shell out copies right as Episode 7 hits theaters. Of course they're going to cater to people into worse shooters and try to copy that authentic 'battlefield' experience instead of respecting the source material.

I think everyone should calm down and reserve judgement until the game is actually out.
