I thoroughly enjoy cooking. I love chopping up stuff, and then cooking, tasting and eating. I really love cooking for people and then having them tell me that it's fucking delicious.

On the menu tonight is green chicken curry with brown rice!

Isn't the way to make fettuccine to duct tape 2 pieces of spaghetti together?

If you're a cook who knows what the fuck you're doing then yes.

back to OP.

The whole 9-5 construct is the norm in western culture (although i imagine many people would argue wit 9-5. given the amount of OT done in this country i imagine its more like 9-7) BUT ANYWAY.

Western culture isn't the majority of the global population, it is the majority of global wealth. Sad as it is to say you'd find people work much harder, and much longer, for much less across the globe.

Workplaces are getting much more flexible, particularly in the work from home area for professions that can.

I'm fortunate that I can do 3 x 12 hr shifts....and then enjoy 4 days off. Although the 3 days does feel like a 'black hole' so to speak as it's a 2hr round trip to work and back so it doesn't leave a lot of time to do stuff.

I'd probably cry if I had to do work a 'normal' 9-5, 5 day week.

Yeah I can guarantee there is unwashed masses throughout the world that have far worse working conditions then "us". If you look at our grandparents generations and beyond they had far worse conditions then us. You can thank Unions for bargaining (I.e. striking and being cunts) for bringing about better wage/working conditions.

Bain now does 4 x 9.5 hour (or thereabouts) days so he can have Tuesdays off to look after Aedan while I'm at work. It's technically only a temporary arrangement, but he's not got any plans to go back to 5 days any time soon. I think it's really important that Aedan sees that it's not just dads going to work and mums staying home, and that he spends time with his dad without me being around!
I'm doing two days in the office and two half days from home, which three weeks in is working quite nicely. I refrained from posting a brief yesterday before I left work so I can walk to the post office this afternoon on work's time.

This is fantastic and I'll be trying to do something similar. Only problem will be when I have to spend a whole week away like this fkn week

Which would make it an even more viable option when you're not gallivanting across the world. You can guilt them into it, by saying you don't get to see enough of Jiminy Jr. and feel bad for your struggling wife and hipster child.
