so there was a Windows 10 consumer Event announcement that happened today.
I like how it's going to be free.
There's a lot other features that they showed off including Cortana (voice recognition software) and the browser it's going to be integrated with; Spartan. (source). Despite Halo being their IP, using iconic names from the game to mask the rehash of IE is a bit too contrived.
What really got me excited thought, is the HoloLense. Although it's concept isn't entirely new, having interactable holographic graphics opens a lot of possibilities that's not restricted to design/gaming... Already they're working with JPL to allow them to use Hololens to interact with the Curiosity rover (source). The gesture recognition seem fluid, though i think myo could probably input more complicated gestures. I think DX12 features may also tie in with the holographic features of such devices.
tl:dr, pornography just got better.
Since I will be building a new pc this year the hololens gave me pause; at this stage I'm not really sure how computer specs will affect the actual graphics/resolution of the device like oculus rift does, but then I'm gunning for more of a 4k gaming rig and not a VR set. Still, visiting mars via VR (should curiosity's data become public) is something I'm willing to throw money at.
