So I've just got a second monitor for the first time and I'm in the process of attempting to set them up. My graphics card (AMD 7800 series) only has a DVI and HDMI slot, so I've got my new monitor in the HDMI (as it has no DVI) and my old one is attached via DVI (it has no HDMI).
The problem is that while the new monitor connected via HDMI is showing up on both my GPU control panel, and on my windows control panel - it is completely blank. It's status light is on, and it isn't projecting any problems but it's totally black.
Am I missing a simple, yet crucial, step here?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Would probably help if you posted some more information about the monitor e.g model number and what operating system you're using.
edit: Try booting up your computer with only the HDMI monitor connected.
Monitor is a Samsung S24D590L, and using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
Booted up with only the HDMI attached - still nothing on the screen. Which is fucking baffling because it detects it.

That existed before all these fancy gfx card programs.. not sure if it still does?
Yeah - no love
