(6 and 6+ on the left, 5S and 5C on the right for size comparison)

iPhone 6 is coming out in two models

  • Bigger - 4.7 or 5.5 inches
  • Thinner than a mofo
  • Curved edged like your face
  • Betterer camera like usual
  • Fasterer interwebs (unless they fuck it up again)
  • Still secure with fingerprint
  • NFC so you can leave your wallet at home
  • iOS8 with Health Book and shit

Apple Watch is now out in the open with a shit load of models

  • 3 models - Watch (basic), Watch Sport (more durable) or Watch Edition (gold for fancy pants)
  • 2 sizes of each - 38mm or 42mm high
  • Health and Fitness 'companion'
  • Apps and shit
  • Interchangable bands
  • Maybe tap to purchase?
  • Coming "early 2015"

The charging looks pretty fucking sweet, about time we move on from the 'plug in some shitty hole' method.

I was surprised at all the different bands, and how easy it looks to change them over. It really changes the look of the whole thing, catering for every audience.

There's a shit load of information and videos on the site I'm still going through, but am liking what I see so far.

Time for a phone upgrade?
Would you consider getting an Apple Watch?
How do you think the watch holds up to other wearables?

I'll stick with Android.

And call me old fashioned but I'll stick with my Omega, Tissot and Larsson & Jennings.
Fun
The watches are really great, hoping the wearables thing continues to develop. I'd be terrified of hitting my wrist against something and shattering the watch face though.

Can't imagine that shit would be cheap to fix or replace.

As for the phones, looks like they've made improvements but that press release just looks like a lot more Apple Wankery™ and I can only imagine how much they'll cost standalone in Australia.

Enjoying my Nexus 5, and it only cost me $150 so I'll probably just wait for the next Nexus iteration.

Dat watch doe.

Edit: $350 in the US for the basic watch, which means $500 in Australia. Jesus fucking Christ.

Yeah that's a bit of a worry, looks like the Sport edition is suited for us paranoid folk:

Strengthened, lightweight Ion-X glass.

To keep the Sport collection models as light as possible, we used an alumina-silicate glass that’s especially resistant to scratches and impact. It’s fortified at the molecular level through ion exchange, with smaller ions being replaced by larger ones to create a surface layer far tougher than ordinary glass.

I wonder if you can mix the normal Watch bands (ie Space Black Stainless Steel Link Bracelet) with the Sports watch? Surely.. comrade..

That means you'll miss out on all the dynamic synergy and flow or whatever other words they'll throw at you.

But it actually looks pretty cool:

The apple watch looks pretty poo. I personally prefer circular watch faces.

I'll be upgrading my iPhone 5 to a 6. The 6 plus is so massive, it's more like an ipad super mini. At what point does it turn from an iPhone to an iPad?

I'm cautious about the large screen too, but everyone I've spoken to who have the larger Android phones fucking love them.. I'll probably have a play around with both the 6 and 6+ in the Apple Store before locking in my purchase.

The 6 plus and watch is basically welcome to what i've had for a year already with the galaxy note and galaxy gear...

Nice, you sexy little trendsetter you. How do you like it? Think the phone + watch combo is the way of the future, or a money-grabbing gimmick?
Remedial
The larger screen is definitely awesome. The watch is mostly a cool gimmick it's main value is in having a watch, which I haven't had in ages, and not having to get my phone out to check the time/check who's calling/check who just messaged me. Can just read the watch and decide I don't want to answer the call.

The other main feature has been that I can use my watch to make my phone ring when i've lost it and use my phone to make my watch ring when i've lost it. I do spend a decent amount of time with one of the 2 missing.

Downside to the watch is having to be charged every second day, which makes perfect sense for a smart device but for a watch it just seems wrong.

Watch has no gps without the phone, therefore it is a piece of garbage.

But think of the SYNERGY between the two!

THINK OF THE FUCKING SYNERGY

What the fuck does a watch need to do aside from tell the time anyway? My Casio F-91W hasn't missed a beat in four years.

I bought my 5C last year, so I won't be considering an upgrade for another 2-3 years as quite frankly, it's a waste of fucking money buying a new phone every year or two.

As for the size, I've never liked the idea of a massive phone, which the 6 is bordering on itself, but the 6+ ...pretty retarded.

The reason I like my Samsung Note 2 (which by today's standards, is a relic from ages yore), is because the size of it allows me to feel nostalgic about the past.

It brought me back to the days when I saw my father using an unwieldy black motorola brick to make calls. The thing looked like it doubled as a way to communicate with colonists on Jupiter, or as something to throw at people to seriously wound them. I was in awe of it, and wished that I could be a grown up ASAP, so I too, may own something that ridiculously big.

As for telling the time, I just look at the position of the sun in the sky. I am usually accurate to within 2 hours.

After it's been a 'phablet' I believe

I'll prob upgrade my 4yo 4S to a 5 as they'll drop the price and Bain has finally convinced me to upgrade so my 4 can become Aedan's lullaby iPod,
