The origin story behind Commissioner James Gordon's rise to prominence in Gotham City in the years before Batman's arrival.

As originally conceived, the series would have served as a straightforward story of Gordon's early days on the Gotham City Police force. The idea evolved not only to include the Bruce Wayne character, but will also tell the origin stories of several Batman villains, including the Penguin, the Riddler, Catwoman, Two-Face, the Joker[5] and Poison Ivy.[6]

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. It could be a great addition to the universe, but it will be very hard to top Nolan's interpretation. I'm really just hoping they're putting in the effort, instead of just making a dumb drama in Gotham City instead of in space like they seem to be doing a lot lately.

Ben McKenzie (Ryan from The OC) as Detective James Gordon.

Donal Logue (King Horik from Vikings) as the bad guy Detective Harvey Bullock.

There's some good actors in there, but also some weird looking people I don't know.

I remember reading about this a month or two ago before there was even a teaser for it and I thought it sounded quite cool, which is odd since I don't really care for Batman.

Looking at it again, I can't really figure out what part of it I was excited for. Maybe it was just the fact that Donal Logue is in it as I love that guy. Hank from Terriers (RIP show) :(
Yeah, I actually like the fact that the jokers history is a mystery. It kind of makes the joker into Batman's nemesis. The anti batman, who is for justice and doing the right thing no matter the cost to himself. and the joker for evil and chaos for the sake of themselves.
Video is private :(

Sounds like a cool concept for a show but I agree it will be hard to top Nolan's interpretation. Seems like Donal Logue is always some kind of policey dude, I think Vikings is the first show Ive seen where he isnt playing some kind of law influenced good guy type. Also Ben McKenzie is a hottie so that should be good.
Thanks for that. After watching the trailer I think this will definitely be a "watch" for me. Ill give it a crack, looks pretty decent and I think it will be pretty awesome to go way back and see what made the villains villains.
Planned to watch this last night after BB before heading out.. then BB went for 20 minutes longer than expected and we didn't have time.

I watched the pilot of this the other night and enjoyed it. They definitely tried to cram in everything, but that's just network pilot syndrome.

I like the actor that plays Penguin since he fits the creepiness very well. They made him a little too over the top, but it seems they did that with all the villains they're setting up so that people couldn't miss them.

It would have been nice if some of them were subtler, like The Riddler seemed cool after one question, but then they made sure they got a few more in there and had someone say 'enough with the riddles' and then 'thanks mr nigma'.

Hopefully the show can calm it down and focus on one thing at a time and get some quality happening!
