I don't know much about go-pros other than they are fantastic sporting cameras and there are a few models to choose from.

I'm interested in getting one before my honeymoon for snorkelling and SCUBA diving in particular. Considering we're going to be doing it for two and a half weeks I figured there will be multiple photo opportunities to warrant the purchase of a decent underwater camera.

Anyone have any experience with them or can recommend which model to buy?

The biggest differences are the resolution they can film and at what framerate.

White is essentially the HD Hero. And Silver very similar to the HD Hero 2.
Black can do up to 4k at reduced framerates, be prepared to wait ages post-processing those files tho.

A lot of people buy these things because of the sweet ads, start recording with them, and later just lose enthusiasm when the time comes to do things with the video you've taken.
If you think that's going to happen don't waste your money, otherwise it's a pretty cool toy and small enough to just shove on places. Battery sucks though so keep it charged when you can.

I ended up getting a powershot D30 for this mainly because i was more after still shots than videos and Go-pros are just wanker expensive.

It goes down to 25m which is more than enough for your average recreational scuba diver. I had no issues using it while diving, it fit into my board shorts pocket quite well and was a breeze to use under water.

Yeah, I'm not big on video either, despite probably having many situations I would have liked to video something. I'll stick to photos and I'd get something like that too, for use underwater and in the snow.

Now I just need a holiday that involves either of those things...
