wiki wrote:The game takes place between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of The Rings, as written by J.R.R. Tolkien. The family of ranger Talion is killed by Sauron's armies, and he himself is also killed, but soon revived with "wraith-like abilities" and heads to Mordor to exact his revenge. Mordor is not yet a barren wasteland in this story.
The story involves the Rings of Power, but the story is separate to The Lord of the Rings canon. However, Warner Bros. maintains that the stories will align. The player will encounter Gollum in the game, discovering that Talion and Gollum have a lot in common.
This kind of like something pretty special, but also just seems to miss the mark somewhere. It is pre-alpha though so it should get a lot more polished as time progresses but right now it looks like Assassins Creed in the LOTR universe with some pretty awesome game mechanics.
The unique experience is pretty damn swanky, with the bosses you need to take out influencing others and being influenced by others still. The Wraith abilities look wicked and it seems there will be many ways to go about your missions.
I was quite impressed by the gameplay walkthrough below, you should give it a watch.
The main thing I didn't like is that it just feels like they slapped the LOTR-ness on. It could have been a brand new IP, but instead it's got so much more to prove to get out of the 'just another LOTR game' mindset that I'm sure many gamers already have.
