So of late I have been seriously getting over WoW and the "Hardcore" raiding side of things, I think once I have killed the final boss of this expansion on hardmode I will be calling it quits, or at least having a break.

I have seen quite alot of FFXIV footage and am quite interested to say the least, I was wondering if someone would be able to point me in the right direction with what to play where to play it and how steep the learning curve can be.

I am thinking of getting it this weekend and would love to join the binfase-est of binfases squadron guild clan group thing.

Is there a rogue-esq / assassin type archetype? This has sort of been my bread and butter class with most games as being a cunt/ganker is heaps of fun.

There isn't any rogue/assassin 'job' yet and with no PvP also, there wont be any ganking for ya. so the closest is melee dps classes such as the fist weapon Pugilist, or the spear wielding Lancer.

Dragoons are going to get buffed in the next patch (coming December) - so you might want to look into that. There is nothing resembling a rogue or thief in this game (yet). I guess you could argue the pugilist/monk class - but instead of stabbing people to death, you are punching the shit out of them.

The learning curve is rewarding in this game, because content is actually difficult at certain junctures - especially if you are just starting out.

Also, if you intend to join us - you must roll a Miqo'te Catgirl in order to join the Free Company. If you have no intention of raiding again, and just wish to experience content in a carefree and casual manner (such as the enjoyable storyline) - I would greatly recommend this game. If anything, it will definitely be worth the purchase and the free month alone - then you can decide if you wish to keep going with it.

I didnt mean literally -.-

Like are the factions broken up into the races thus if I actually wanted to play with you I have to make a catgirl or should I make one just because they are Super Kawaii and everyone loves them?

Roll on the JP server Tonberry, create a female Mi'qote then pm me for an ginvite.

Just watched this http://www.twitch.tv/mishenex/c/3164270 despite the awesome JPop the bosses seem kinda simple? I obviously have no idea what is going on or what spell effect is good / bad but it seemed like 12 minutes of Adds / boss / Dont stand in shit / 50% adds spawn / dont stand in shit / eat the balls standing on the floor?

Seems fun, 12 minute bosses seem cool too, wiping at 11:45 doesnt :<

The beauty of this game is you can be every class on the one character.

This is not usually what I would call a good thing.

I would seriously like to check the sanity of anyone who levels all the class roles to max levels.

For me I found playing several hours at a time extremely dangerous for my health because after a while I really did want to bash my head against the wall (I just didn't enjoy the leveling path Square Enix had in store for me).

Now I haven't played for over a month and I don't have a max level character in any role but the beauty of FFXIV is playing it in short burst and enjoying the adventure and dungeon challenges. Plus the game does look beautiful.

Another thing, I don't get why the Miqo'te Catgirl and jerking off have to associated with another =/. When I chose a Miqo'te Catgirl back in 2011 as my character race, I chose it because it looked different and quite cool. Now I understand that with some of the less then clothed gear that is out in FFXIV atm, it may be hard to disassociate the two thoughts but there are plenty of clothed badass looking gear available.

Im not sure if you understand the mechanic at work and if you do i am confused by your thoughts.

Instead of rolling a entirely new Character (which i am able to do) i can just change my class on the go and level a new class to max level. I currently have a Warrior at level 50 and a Bard at level 50, most people have at least 2 or more. Need a tank no problem, need a dps no need to log out and change character i can do it right here
