… but really what gives us the right to be so lucky to have it better than everyone else that has ever lived before? Life is a great thing to be respected, but people have too high of expectations of life. These people have it all wrong, many of the happiest people in the world have the simplest lives.
Lower your expectations, surrender to mediocrity and the simple life, that way you wont be overwhelmed by it and maybe you will be able to enjoy it more.
You could argue the other way too. Sure, you may be more fortunate/have more opportunities in life than many other people. So make the most of those opportunities/talents/whatever and live the best life/be the best person you can.
I suspect your final sentence wasn't meant to be the nihilistic statement it reads as -- perhaps more something like 'have realistic expectations, achievable goals and live within your means'.*
