Thought I would try breathe some life into this forum, last night I made a meal out of Jamie Oliver's 15 minute meal book and was pretty damn happy with the outcome:

Chicken Dim Sum and Coconut Bun

5 minute prep time, 15 minute cooking time. It was fun using the steamer again too.

Had toasted sesame seeds and extra hoi sin sauce as a side, will definitely be making this again.

It was super simple and delicious! Can't wait to make it with fresh herbs next time.

Next time you make something delicious or special for dinner, take a nice picture and make the rest of us jealous!

Malieus, with Darkshaunz and myself this morning on vent (wallowing in our common exasperation for downtime), was listing a bunch of burger joints he wanted to check out. Little indie places hidden in the back streets of Perth. Having not had breakfast yet, the subject matter both intrigued and infuriated me. They all looked quite good. After salivating over some pixelated morsels, I decided to catchup with Malieus for lunch.

Malieus picked Novembar, as it was just up the street. We both chose the Triple Cheese, consisting of 3 beef patties, lettuce, tomato, 3 cheese, with tomato ketchup.

Their website isn't the best, but my god their burgers are!

Mission Incomplete. Neither of us felt like touching the chips (which were also nice and crispy), so Malieus took them home.

Lunch was over 2 hours ago, but god I'm am still so fucked. Just full and tired and buggered. Burger was so good. Fresh veggies, tangy sauce. The three patties were not small, and quite flavourful. Well worth the $15.

They also had a few eating competitions:
MAN versus Red Face Runny Nose II
Warning: The Planet Earth's Hottest and Deadliest Chili Burger
This Challenge will cost you $30 if you fail or be completely free if you succeed, all you need to do is follow the in-house rules of the challenge within 10 minutes.

They had a leader board up, mostly filled with fails, and the times written next to the passes.

Good times, looking forward to taking a few other Perth Twelvians for a go.

They do a burger that is exactly what we had with 3 bacon rashers extra.

Might have to try organise a trip up there some time for a few of us to grab a bite to eat.

Thread Bump!

I've done quite a bit of cooking in recent months, with my special efforts usually reserved for Monday nights when my family comes over to watch Walking Dead.

A few of the more successful meals:

Chicken and Chorizo Gumbo, served with rice, Southern-style potato salad, and chili cheese cornbread

Image

Herb and dill-crusted salmon with a slaw of beetroot and red onion

Image

Parmesan-crumbed chicken breast, oven-baked and stuffed with taleggio and herb
