Start with Gardens of the Moon. Every book seems to introduce more new characters, and some Characters who were background colour in some scenes suddenly get there own important role a book or two later. The entire series is foreshadowing and flashbacks and all sorts of things. The plot is so twisted and convoluted that it is like a grand puzzle to read.

I just finished book 6 again last night, I am about to go into town and buy book 7 and 8 I think I was only up to book 8 last time I read the series, looking forward to entering new territory .

Just thought I would give this a plug again. Thanks for getting me into it, it is truly epic. You were right about it being a massive puzzle. It has so many characters, sub plots and little intrigues going on. Very different to Game of Thrones where you learn the characters in groups before it breaks off, but still very epic.

Shall be dedicating a few hours to it again tomorrow. I recommend picking this series up ;)

I haven't read anything in this thread ,but every time it pops up and I see "Malazan" I always think it's another Quality "Shaunz" type thread and get disappointed.

Just started the Reaper's Gale last night (7th book of 10), The reason I haven't told anyone much about the series is that's half the fun with reading this the first time, figuring out how thing work in this series, what is doable and not doable by whom and what. Over an entire planet, and multiple realms.

Dude... I cannot thank you enough for bringing these books to my attention. I'm surprised more people haven't jumped on these.

The idea of warrens, the gods, the champions, the ascended... the holds are all so genius. This guys scope in writing is ridiculous. I read rather quick and yet, these books are taking me a very long time. I love it. Highly recommend them as well.
