In the film, written and directed by Twohy, the infamous Riddick has been left for dead on a sun-scorched planet that appears to be lifeless. Soon, however, he finds himself fighting for survival against alien predators more lethal than any human he's encountered. The only way off is for Riddick to activate an emergency beacon and alert mercenaries who rapidly descend to the planet in search of their bounty. The first ship to arrive carries a new breed of merc, more lethal and violent, while the second is captained by a man whose pursuit of Riddick is more personal. With time running out and a storm on the horizon that no one could survive, his hunters won't leave the planet without Riddick's head as their trophy.

I loved the living shit out of both Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick as well as the universe it's set in. It was rumoured that he agreed to be in Fast and Furious on the condition that they make him a third Riddick movie.

It sounds like this story is set between the other two movies, since I doubt the kind of the Necromongers would be stranded on a planet.

Good to see Katee Sackhoff in the cast list too!
Oh I'm excited about this. I also enjoyed the the movies as well as "Dark Fury" which was the animated short film. Looking at the imdb link, Karl Urban is back as Vaako so this would suggest its a continuation from Chronicles.…
Absolutely LOVE this series of movies - really looking forward to this. I like the timing - if they are unable to make another one post King of The Borg this storyline seems easier.
Riddick (2013) is the third sequel of the series after Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick. What's interesting was that half of the movie is based around the antagonists and not himself, so it sort of gave me a taste of being in the receiving end of the Furyan's anger, especially when he gets up close and personal to his hunters. There's a few funny scenes in it as well and not everything is about fighting. The best scene was the part where he kills the guy in 5 secons.

most the good parts are on this trailer
