Hmm, Hi -tap tap- is this thing on?

Here's hoping.

I'm Kat from the very distant Perth in Western Australia. This year I will sadly be leaving my 20's behind and embracing aging by accepting the 30's.

I've been gaming for a very long time. Seriously, our first PC was some old IBM that could only display green. I wasn't even in Kindergarten yet and I experienced the beauty of kicking my brothers' bottoms in some platform game made out of characters on the keyboard. Built my very first PC when I was about 14 because I was scared I couldn't play the latest game if I didn't (how things have changed...). While I mainly played RTSs as a teenager, The Neverhood remains my favouritest game of all times.

For now though, I am playing Tera and The Secret World and looking forward to Guild Wars 2. I was looking for an Oceanic guild and Google pointed me here (happy you were the number one result of 'oceanic guild GW2'?). When it comes to game play I enjoy I am a bit of a mix, I love my RPGs and MMOs with some RTSs (SC2 recently) on the side and one little FPSs (TF2 or the hat simulator, I can never remember what it's called now). My bank account is barely surviving the Steam Summer Sale and I am concerned that she won't make it till the end.

I am not sure what I would class myself as in the sense of gamer. I am a single woman whose only responsibilities are normal adult ones and a cat. So I play hard-core hours but would say I am more mid-core level (I try my best and will research but I am not a number cruncher, that's too much like my day job) but with a more casual gamer attitude who hates labels.

When not working or fighting cat aggro to try and game (unsure if this is worse than wife aggro, you can't have a logical discussion with your cat as to why you can't give them cuddles right now but then a cat is never going to kick you out onto the couch), I write a blog. Kind of resurrecting it right now. Last time I used it was to write about my experiences during EVE online so writing about new games now and even branching out onto some opinion pieces.

I now feel like somehow I have revealed way to much about myself and will have to kill you all if I say anything more (and you don't die of boredom by the time you reach this line).

Signing off with a cat because all forums should have a cat in their Smilies.

Hi Kat!

Twelve welcomes you! Will you be playing the GW2 beta this weekend with the rest of us? If so you should definitely come on vent and spend a bit of time with us!

Feel free to check out the gaming forum and any of the other forums you think you'd enjoy :D

I don't think it counts as distant if I also live there.

Excellent choice, welcome to Twelve.

Welcome, Kat!

Out of curiosity, how many cats do you think it take classify someone as a crazy cat lady?

Same. I remember playing Gorilla Maths on the classroom computer in Year 3. You had to answer times table questions before the gorilla threw barrels at you, and if you were too slow he would escape his cage and eat you (this sounds a lot like Donkey Kong but with more maths and less colour)

Hello there, what is your favourite dinosaur?

Nah it does.

Welcome to Twelve, Kat.

Twelve Guild Wars 2 is a place where a casual gamer such as yourself can feel comfortable in. We do however, take certain elements of the game seriously, such as RvR and instancing. So if you ever feel like you want to go the extra mile to hit content hard, that option is open to you. Many of your future guildmates are working individuals, and also have similar casual playing schedules. You're welcome to join us this coming beta weekend, and if you would like a ventrilo account - drop me a PM via the forums. I recommend that you report in to this thread with your availability and GW2 nickname.

Getting in touch with us is really simple, but the first thing you'll want to do is roll character on the Isle of Janthir server once they come up. To get an invite, simply come onto ventrilo and ask us for one - or look for guildies with signatures that look like this:

These guys are the guild officers, which means you can call them names and tease them endlessly. They will throw you an invite (or else), and also help you with any information you may need about Guild Wars 2 or the Twelve community in general. Some of them have different designations under their names - denoting what they're most experienced in.

In the meantime, please drop by the rest of our forums and meet up with the other Twelvians as well. I assure you that they won't bite much, and will only do so tenderly. You're basically joining the zaniest and most loving family on this quarter of the internet, I hope your body is ready!

Welcome Kat :) That's awesome that we are the number one hit on google for GW2 oceanic guilds :D

Hope to see you online on the weekend and popping your head in to other areas of our forums. Are we allowed to read your blog? Maybe in the future? I need something to read while I'm at work ;)

Thanks for the welcomes! Yes, I will be playing this coming beta. Not sure how much I will play as I want to keep the game 'fresh' and concerned that my Arena Net fangrlism will come back to haunt me causing myself to go into a coma-like state while sitting in the corner, rocking slowly back and forth, singing to myself because release is just sooooo far far away.

I will either go ranger, my first true love of ranged, physical damage with a pet or an engineer, because when doesn't shooting people with potions sound cool?

Unsure if you want me on vent, I am sadly a bit of a talker. Will pop my details down in that thread too, just not sure what they are (at work, should be working but instead reading up on games. Story of my life).

I have entered this debate before. Many say four is the minimum so I class myself as a CCLiT (Crazy Cat Lady in Training, although it is a really really bad abbreviation) as I only have one.

That would be the triceratops. Not sure why, it was my favourite as a little girl.

Not sure if you would want to =^ . ^= I write because I enjoy writing (as evident by my long posts), not because I am any good at it. At the moment I am working on an impressions of TSW and also my first opinion piece on female armour. Still not sure how they will turn out.… If I am feeling somewhat courageous, I will.
