I'm karl, i'm shy, i'm friendly, i'm an aion fort siege/firefight strategist, and I'm going to play GW2 hardcore.
My name is Karl and I'm 24 yo. You probably already guessed my gender. I'm a filipino by background, migrated to au 10 years ago. I live in western sydney, taking up Bach of Networking at melb institute of technology sydney campus, first year, after a few years of freelancing and a bit of occasional and hardcore gaming, depending on my RL situation. I'm a typical geek, and loves to do other random things too, except giving public speeches. I'm really terrible at those. Thorment is a corruption of the name Tohrment from Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR ward. No its got nothing to do with avengers.
I've started gaming since I got a hold of a nintendo 64, never really owned my console til my ps2. Been borrowing consoles from friends since most console games bore me enough to actually push me to do random things other than playing after a while. However to most who knew me I am a completist PC gamer. I can't brag of playing hundreds of games since I've only ever played a handful, and on all of those games, I've finished them on the hardest difficulty possible. Some of the games are witcher 1, MW3, alice madness returns, halo 1-reach, mass effect 1-3, warcraft, starcraft 1-2, might and magic, hidden object games, sims 3, skyrim, etc. Sorry I don't play diablo.
My first ever MMO is runescape. it was popular at the time...I played a bit of WoW but I never really had the time to enjoy it because of my pc's specs at the time. I resorted to playing DOTA because its a very non commital game. I then moved into AION (private server Greed) in 2010 which was also by NCsoft. There i joined a twinking legion named mirage, and eventually we became the top legion because of me and my gf's efforts (who also plays the same game/account)...She owned the account I was playing and I was playing it like a strategy game leading forces more than I was actually fighting. We dominated twinking world for a time and eventually when we went to high lvl gameplay we had a bit of reputation ourselves. The problem there is that most the leginomates/friends I met were all from +1 to +3 GMT timezones, so I had to stay up ridiculous hours to game. Eventually I had to quit playing it.
I'm currently playing Dota2 and following reddit, \b\, 9gag to waste time til GW2 release.
Guild Wars 2
GW2 is very promising in regards to legion/guild battles esp in WvW. I've had extensive experience in participating and occasionally leading fort sieges in Aion, as well as organising and coordinating boss raids and group fights esp firefights vs zergers (my main class was templar, a tank). So I can provide some insight on some strategies that can be employed in WvW...I've got heaps of ideas though I'm not really sure how it's going to pan out in real WvW. I've only played it a limited time on Desolation server, who was epically aggressive.
I'll probably be playing elementalist as a main character, secondary will be warrior/guardian/mesmer/thief for fun pvp.
I'm still unsure on which guild/server i'm going to join. my aion (eu) friends has all decided to stay desolation, but for my own sake (RL commitments) I want to play at AU peak times, and probably join a reliable guild (communication/online time).
