The issue is Willy's just using a public indexer, which are generally full of fake releases.

Willy you need to sign up for an indexer like NZBGeek.

Which is the service I signed up for $30 lifetime at the moment. Found it straight away, good quality and speed.

OK. I'll do that.

Ordered my new NAS and HDDs the other day, will hopefully have it set up next week some time.

Synology DS1515+ (scalable 5 bay) and 4x 5tb WD Red drives, which will give me 15tb usable.

The 11tb HDD tower I already have is still going strong, somehow. Will be plugging that into the NAS so it's all together, just over two 'drives'.

NAS will store everything I care about, while HDD tower will be for shit I don't care about as much, or series that are on Netflix etc.

Have only heard great things about NZBGet and Sonarr, so will be trying that out for the first time instead of SabNZBd+ and Sick Beard.

Apparently the Plex app for Synology OS needs a bit of tweaking to get it running as it's not officially signed or something, sounds fun.

Though I'm open to also trying out Kodi (XBMC) as a Plex alternative.

Any tips/tricks/recommendations on setting this bad boy up?

It's really easy setting up plex. The only annoying thing is that you have to download and manually install the latest updates, as it takes Synology ages to update their version.

You'll also need to enable https://synocommunity.com/. This is where you will download all the apps like nzbget and sonarr.

Looks like I've finally got this all working. /phew

I was having some serious issues with permissions, the packages/apps that were installed couldn't write to the volume.

I banged my head against a wall for a long time, even resorted to extreme measures by making a new user, manually editing permissions and ownership of packages/folders, then editing the start script so that it opened as the new user.

That actually worked for every app except Sonarr, which had a crazy complicated start script and just wouldn't open.

Anyway, after much searching I found what I needed to do. Control Panel > Groups > Open 'users' group > Give Read/Write access.

That's it. The users that each app created automatically got added to that 'users' group, which didn't have permission to create the shared drives.

So I uninstalled all packages, deleted and re-created all the shared folders, reinstalled packages and they worked!

Pain in the ass, but at least it's all sorted now.

I plugged my HDD tower into it and am currently transferring ~6tb of TV to it. The rest can stay on the HDD tower as it's shit I wouldn't re-watch or recommend to a friend.

NZBGet + Sonarr + Headphones + Transmission + Plex is now working sexily. My fear of the NAS not being powerful enough was quashed when I streamed a 17gb Watchmen file to the PS4, while it was transferring data from the HDD Tower and downloading at the same time. Very impressive.

Unless you're very happy with SabNZBd+ and Sick Beard I'd recommend upgrading to NZBGet and Sonarr. NZBGet is simple and effective, but Sonarr is a vast improvement and is just so bloody slick and intuitive.

It feels fantastic to have another ~15tb of space, in much better quality and more powerful hardware that is future proof as it's scalable.
